Provision of Green Skills Training for Community Solar Technicians on Operation, Maintenance and First-Line Repair of Solar-Powered Water Supply Schemes in Tharparkar, Sindh
1. Background
Human Appeal has established and supported solar-powered water supply schemes in 83 villages across District Tharparkar. These schemes provide communities with reliable access to safe drinking water through solar photovoltaic (PV) systems powering boreholes, pumps, motors, controllers, and water distribution infrastructure.
To enhance the sustainability and long-term functionality of these schemes, Human Appeal intends to build local technical capacity by training one community representative from each village as a Community Solar Technician. The trained participants will serve as the first point of contact within their respective villages for routine operation, preventive maintenance, fault identification, troubleshooting, and minor repairs of solar-powered water systems.
Human Appeal will coordinate and monitor the activity. The selected Consultant/Firm will be responsible for the complete planning, organization, delivery, logistics, participant support, training materials, toolkits, assessments, certification, and reporting.
2. Objective of the Assignment
To build a cadre of 83 Community Solar Technicians capable of:
- Operating village solar-powered water supply systems.
- Conducting preventive maintenance.
- Diagnosing common faults.
- Undertaking first-line repairs.
- Maintaining service logs and maintenance records.
- Coordinating with Human Appeal for major technical faults.
- Contributing to the sustainability of water supply schemes.
3. Assignment Location
Primary Training Location: Mithi, District Tharparkar, Sindh
The consultant may propose an alternative venue within Tharparkar; however, the venue must be centrally accessible for participants from all targeted villages.

This document will be reviewed by Human Appeal’s CMT (Country Management Team) for further decision if any conflict of interest arises. Operation Team shall inform suppliers if they are qualified to participate in the RFQ/RFP/Tender.
