Job Purpose

The Communication Expert is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing effective communication, visibility, and outreach strategies for the projects. The role ensures timely and high-quality documentation, social media engagement, IEC material development, and donor-compliant visibility of project activities and results. The position supports accurate storytelling, stakeholder engagement, and public outreach by translating project achievements into clear, culturally appropriate, and impactful communication products in line with organization and donor guidelines.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage structured social media campaigns aligned with project objectives.
  • Draft clear, audience-appropriate social media content (Urdu and English), focusing on:
    • Project objectives, activities, and outcomes
    • Community impact and beneficiary stories
    • Environmental, livelihoods, and development themes relevant to the project
  • Manage and regularly update organization's social media platforms (Facebook, WhatsApp, and others as assigned).
  • Monitor engagement and suggest improvements to enhance reach and impact.
  • Coordinate and support photography and videography during project activities and field visits.
  • Ensure high-quality photo and video documentation for reports, social media, and donor communications.
  • Maintain a well-organized digital repository of photos, videos, IEC materials, and communication products.
  • Support the development of short videos, reels, and visual stories for digital platforms.
  • Work closely with the Regional and Core Teams to collect information, inputs, and approvals.
  • Incorporate feedback from management (where required).
  • Support the preparation of communication inputs for weekly, monthly, and quarterly project reports.
  • Coordinate with external designers, printers, and media vendors as required.
  • Ensure all communication products comply with organizational policies, donor requirements, and ethical standards.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, and professionalism across all outputs.
  • Perform any other communication-related tasks assigned by the Director Programs & Partnerships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mass communication, Media Studies, Development Communication, Journalism, Graphic Design, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in communication, visibility, media, or documentation roles, preferably within development or donor-funded projects.
  • Proven experience in social media management, IEC development, and visibility compliance.
  • Experience working with UN, INGOs/NGOs will be an advantage.

 Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong content writing and editing skills in English and Urdu.
  • Proven skills in social media handling and digital engagement.
  • Working knowledge of photography and videography coordination (hands-on skills preferred).
  • Ability to conceptualize and guide design of IEC and visibility materials.
  • Familiarity with branding, donor visibility, and communication compliance standards.
  • Strong coordination, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.

Reporting & Coordination 

  • The Communication Expert will report to the Director Programs & Partnerships.
  • Day-to-day coordination will be carried out with the Regional Coordinator and Project Team.
