Job Title: Tailoring Training Facilitator

Location: Women and Girls Friendly Space (WGFS), Islamabad/Rawalpindi

Introduction: The Tailoring Training Facilitator will be responsible for designing and delivering tailoring training sessions to Afghan refugee women enrolled in the Women and Girls Friendly Space (WGFS). The facilitator will create a supportive learning environment, impart practical tailoring skills, and empower participants to enhance their livelihood opportunities through income-generating activities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Curriculum Development:

   • Design a comprehensive tailoring training curriculum tailored to the needs and skill levels of Afghan refugee women.
   • Develop lesson plans, training materials, and practical exercises to facilitate effective learning.

2. Training Delivery:

   • Conduct interactive training sessions on basic and advanced tailoring techniques, including garment construction, pattern making, and sewing machine operation.
   • Provide hands-on instruction and demonstrations to ensure participants grasp key concepts and skills.
   • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages active participation and skill development.

3. Individualized Support:

   • Provide individualized coaching and support to participants, offering guidance and feedback to help them improve their tailoring skills.
   • Address any challenges or barriers faced by participants, adapting training methods as needed to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.

4. Monitoring and Evaluation:

   • Regularly assess participant progress and skill acquisition through practical assessments, observations, and feedback mechanisms.
   • Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, performance, and achievements.
   • Collaborate with monitoring and evaluation teams to contribute to the overall impact assessment of the tailoring training program.

5. Empowerment and Capacity Building:

   • Empower participants with knowledge and skills that enable them to generate income through tailoring and sewing activities.
   • Provide guidance on entrepreneurship, business management, and marketing strategies to support participants in establishing and sustaining their own tailoring enterprises.

6. Community Engagement:

   • Build positive relationships with Afghan refugee women participating in the tailoring training program, fostering a sense of belonging and community support.
   • Collaborate with trainees and WGFS staff to promote the benefits of tailoring training and encourage participation through interactive learning methods.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Diploma or certification in tailoring, fashion design, or a related field from a reputable organization.
• Proven experience as a tailoring instructor or facilitator, preferably working with refugee or marginalized communities/ INGOs.
• Strong knowledge of tailoring techniques, garment construction, and sewing machine operation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse groups of learners.
• Sensitivity to the cultural and social context of Afghan refugee communities, with a commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment.
• Mastering of Basic Tailoring Concepts
• highly skilled in Patterns and Fabric Selection, taking Measurements and Drafting Patterns
• Highly skilled in cutting Fabric and Marking Patterns
• highly skilled in sewing Seams and Seam Finishes
• Constructing Basic Garments: Kids women, related to community needs and simple dresses
• End to end hand holding and successful practising the community women. Duty Hours: 3 hours a week per batch ( Monday-Friday)
