BACKGROUND

The Laar Humanitarian and Development Programme (LHDP) is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization dedicated to humanitarian and development efforts, primarily within Sindh province and other regions of Pakistan. Established as a legal entity on June 30, 2006, LHDP is registered under the Societies Act of 1860 and is a member of the Indus Consortium Pakistan.

In partnership with WaterAid Pakistan, LHDP is implementing a six-month initiative titled “Envisioning &Catalysing PATS Plus for the SDG 6 in Pakistan” in Taluka and District Badin. This project aims to develop a sustainable, climate-resilient, and safely managed WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) model within Badin district, with the goal of replication by government bodies and sector partners to contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) across Pakistan.

The Laar Humanitarian and Development Programme (LHDP), in collaboration with WaterAid Pakistan, is implementing the project titled "Envisioning and Catalysing PATS Plus for SDG 6 in Pakistan" in District Badin. The project will directly benefit an estimated population of 163,500 in Taluka Badin, supporting them in establishing and maintaining an Open Defecation Free environment through the adoption of household latrines and the promotion of hygienic behaviors and practices.

Communities and institutions within Taluka Badin will gain access to safely managed, inclusive WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) services by employing the PATS Plus approach and community management models. These models will demonstrate community-led, climate-resilient, and sustainable safe drinking water services that can be replicated. The project also aims to strengthen the capacity, processes, and systems of relevant government departments to plan, deliver, and sustain inclusive, climate-resilient, and gender-responsive WASH services.
