Programme: Post-Floods Resilient Recovery and Strengthening of the Livestock Sector in Balochistan - The programme aims to empower communities, particularly women, by organizing them into livestock producer groups for collective production and the establishment of community-led livestock markets. It also seeks to support women and youth-led micro, small, and medium enterprises in developing value chains for sheep, goats, and poultry. The programme will be implemented across 120 union councils in six (6) flood-affected districts of Balochistan. The overall objective of the programme is to contribute to post 2022 floods climate-resilient socioeconomic recovery in the most affected and poorest districts of Balochistan province. The specific objective is improved value chains and market linkages in agriculture and livestock sectors of Balochistan.
- Expected Result/Output 1: Strengthened capacities of target groups in improving value addition and compliance to food safety and sustainability standards.
- Expected Result/Output 2: Increased livestock assets of target women and men farmers/entrepreneurs.
- Expected Result/Output 3: Enhanced access of women and men farmers to finances for value addition of livestock and livestock products.
THE POSITION:
This position is located at District offices and reports to the District Programme Manager
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE POSITION:
S/he will be responsible for community mobilizations to form the livestock farmers and producer’s groups, organize their training events at community level, work with community institutions for preparation of the cases for restocking of the livestock for families who lost their livestock during floods and identification of the entrepreneurs to be engaged in different livestock related MSMEs. S/he will also be responsible for regular follow up with beneficiaries of livestock restocking and MSMEs to provide them required support for their business and take update about their business.
More Specifically:
Community Mobilization & Group Formation
- Mobilize community members to form livestock farmers and producers’ groups.
- Engage local institutions and ensure representation and participation of women and vulnerable groups.
Training Organization
- Organize and support training events at the community level focused on livestock management, business skills, and MSME development.
- Coordinate training logistics, materials, and follow-up sessions.
Livestock Restocking Support
- Work with community institutions to identify and prepare cases for restocking livestock for families affected by floods.
- Ensure proper documentation, verification, and coordination for restocking processes.
MSME Identification & Support
- Identify potential livestock-related entrepreneurs and support them in developing sustainable MSMEs.
- Provide field-level technical and advisory support to MSME beneficiaries.
Follow-up and Monitoring
- Conduct regular field visits to follow up with beneficiaries of livestock restocking and MSME support.
- Gather updates on business progress, identify issues, and provide on-ground solutions or escalate as needed.
Coordination with FAO Field Teams
- Support FAO teams in organizing events at Farmer Field Schools (FFS).
- Facilitate community participation and assist in ensuring smooth execution of FFS-related activities.
INTERNAL/EXTERNAL INTERACTIONS internally with all District Project staff within District office and Head office concern staff.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Livestock Management, Agriculture, Business Administration, Rural Development, or related fields.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant field experience in livelihoods, livestock management, or rural enterprise development.
- Prior experience in community mobilization and coordination with development partners.
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively within remote and rural areas.
