The Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS, P) is seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Manager Community Health at Regional Office, Karachi.

Why This Role Matters:

Primary healthcare is where lasting change begins. It’s where children get vaccinated, families receive trusted advice, and communities find care before small problems become life-threatening ones.

As Assistant Manager – Community Health, you will shape how thousands of people experience care at AKHS health centers across Karachi. Your work will ensure clinics run efficiently, doctors and staff are supported, and patients receive respectful, high-quality service. By strengthening systems and introducing new services, you’ll help communities access care that is not just available — but excellent, reliable, and centered around their needs.

The Kind of Questions You Will Be Empowered to Own

  • How do we make sure every health center delivers safe, high-quality care every day?
  • How do we monitor and support doctors and staff to follow clinical and ethical standards?
  • What opportunities exist to expand services, form new partnerships, or pilot new initiatives?
  • How do we verify data, close audit queries, and turn reporting into meaningful decisions?
  • How do we run operations efficiently — achieving both quality outcomes and cost savings?
  • How can we align daily operations with AKHS’s goal of net-zero carbon operations by 2030?

Core Mandate

  • Program Coordination: Work with the Lead, South Community Program, to manage and monitor the regional program, ensuring all objectives are met.
  • Operational Support: Facilitate Finance, HR, Facilities, Communication, and IT teams to deliver smooth and effective operations.
  • Healthcare Expansion: Identify opportunities for program growth and service expansion; contribute to the development of new initiatives.
  • Team & Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders; delegate work clearly and motivate staff and doctors to maintain high performance and continuous quality improvement.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance: Implement quality protocols, oversee infection control, ensure medical supply safety, and report malpractice when identified.
  • Data & Reporting: Ensure accurate data collection, timely reporting, and successful resolution of audit findings.
  • Financial Management: Contribute to budgeting, financial controls, and cost-optimization strategies.
  •  Environmental Responsibility: Identify how regional operations impact the environment and set work plans that help AKHS meet its 2030 net-zero goal.

What Success Looks Like in 6 months

  • Every health center meets or exceeds quality assurance benchmarks.
  • Doctors and staff are well-supported, consistently adhering to clinical and ethical guidelines.
  • Regional data is timely, reliable, and used to make smarter program decisions.
  • At least one new healthcare partnership or service expansion opportunity is underway.
  • Budget efficiency and resource utilization show measurable improvement.
  • Environmental impact reduction steps are identified and in progress.

Why You Might be a Good Fit

  • You hold a MBBS, BDS, BScN, or a master’s degree in Public Health/Public Policy/Development/Management (or a relevant bachelor’s with strong healthcare experience).
  • You bring at least three years of experience in healthcare operations, ideally in a NGO.
  • You are a confident, decisive leader who thrives in high-stakes, fast-paced environments.
  • You are data-driven, analytical, and skilled at turning insights into operational improvements.
  • You value integrity, transparency, and building trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • You are adaptable, resilient, and committed to continuous learning and improvement.
