Job Summary:
The Dispenser / Medical Technician will play a key role in ensuring the effective delivery of primary healthcare services at the MCHC in Lower Kohistan. He will be responsible for dispensing prescribed medicines, maintaining pharmacy records, and ensuring the availability of essential drugs. In addition, he will support the Medical Officer and Lady Health Visitor in medical camps, immunization activities, and community awareness sessions. The position also involves assisting in strengthening Village Health Committees, conducting school and field-based awareness activities, and providing support in patient referrals and outreach services. This role requires accuracy, responsibility, and cultural sensitivity to serve communities in remote and challenging environments.
Responsibilities: The Dispenser / Medical Technician will be responsible for:
1. Dispensing medicines as prescribed by medical staff and maintaining accurate records.
2. Maintaining pharmacy records (requisitions, purchases, stock, expiry dates).
3. Ensuring availability of essential medicines and timely replenishment of stocks.
4. Maintaining cleanliness, safety, and hygiene of the pharmacy/store and health facility.
5. Assisting the Medical Officer / Project Manager in conducting medical camps, screening activities, and awareness sessions.
6. Assisting the Medical Officer in strengthening Village Health Committees.
7. Maintaining records of patient registrations, OPD slips, and medicine dispensing.
8. Supporting the Medical Officer and LHV in EPI immunization activities for under-5 children in collaboration with the district health department/EPI program.
9. Conducting awareness-raising activities in the field and schools on health, hygiene, and preventive care.
10. Assisting the Medical Officer and LHV in identifying appropriate locations for medical camps and outreach activities.
11. Performing any other official tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Job Specifications:
Qualification :
- Medical Technician diploma/ Dispenser diploma from a PNC-recognized medical faculty.
- Valid registration with relevant medical faculty.
Work Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of practical experience in hospital after graduation.
- Experience in community mobilization and health awareness activities.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of dispensing , dosage calculations, and safe medicine handling.
- Familiarity with basic pharmacology and common medications used in primary healthcare.
- Ability to maintain accurate pharmacy records (stock, requisitions, expiry dates).
- Basic understanding of EPI/immunization protocols and support in vaccination activities.
- Competence in community health awareness and patient education.
- Communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, communities, and health staff.
- Record-keeping and reporting skills (manual and digital).
- Proficiency in MS Excel and medical logistic tools for data entry and reporting.
- Organizational skills to manage workload and support medical camps/outreach.
- Ability to work in remote and challenging environments with cultural sensitivity.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency patient support.
