 Background:

We are implementing an advocacy program for the legal empowerment of marginalized minority communities of Pakistan. We believes that a peaceful, tolerant, and pluralistic society is only possible if structural biases, and discriminatory laws are eliminated.  The program is envisioned to materialize the legal needs of minorities in Pakistan and effectively implement the existing legal framework in the context of minorities for the protection of their legal rights.

Purpose:                        

We closely involved in advocacy efforts for the enactment, amendment, and implementation of the Minorities Personal Laws. To strengthen advocacy efforts on Minorities Personal Laws, the organization is aiming to organize 4 workshops with media spokespersons (1 workshop in Punjab, KPK, Sindh & Islamabad respectively). These workshops will sensitize media spokespersons about the minorities' concerns and prepare them to better present the case of inclusive legal reforms for minority personal rights. We are accepting the applications of consultants with relevant experience and expertise to provide services on the following key deliverables:

  • To develop the workshop content, including presentation, handouts, pre-posttests, and a schedule of implementation.
  • To conduct a one-day workshop with media spokespersons in Punjab, Sindh, KPK, and Islamabad (Total workshops 4).

Objectives:

The consultant is expected to:

Design and Develop Workshop Content:

  • Prepare comprehensive workshop materials including presentations, handouts, pre- and post-assessment tools, and an implementation schedule.
  • Ensure that the content effectively covers the key aspects of existing minority personal laws and key gaps in them.

Facilitate Capacity-Building Workshops:

  • Conduct one-day interactive workshops in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad (a total of four workshops).
  • Apply participatory and context-sensitive approaches to ensure meaningful learning and engagement of media spokespersons.
  • Equip media spokespersons with a deeper understanding of minority concerns.
  • Strengthen their capacity to highlight concerns of inclusivity, equality, and legal reform through ethical and rights-based reporting.
  • Provide recommendations on how media engagement can further strengthen advocacy objectives related to minorities’ personal laws.
  • Document key outcomes and participant feedback to inform future advocacy initiatives and submit a report on consolidated report on conducted workshops.
  • Participate in the meetings about this assignment to be called by organization online/offline.
  • Incorporate feedback from the organization program team on the workshop content material and on the final report.
  • The tentative timeline for this assignment completion will be two months.

To achieve the aim and objectives agreed above, the organization will:

  • Provide the consultant with basic information about the project and the key objectives of this assignment.
  • Provide continuous guidance and support where needed by the consultant during the content development and execution of the workshops.
  • Provide support on participants' list finalization for each workshop.
  • Provide logistical arrangements (Venue, refreshment, travel, accommodation) for both the consultant and participants, and will remain in close contact with the consultant during the content development and execution exercise as per the approved plan.
