Job Purpose
The Trainer – Housekeeping will be responsible for providing instruction to students in all aspects of housekeeping within the hospitality industry. This includes training students on cleaning techniques, proper use of cleaning tools and chemicals, guest room preparation, and maintaining hygiene standards. The Trainer will ensure students develop the skills necessary to work in hotels, resorts, and other hospitality establishments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver training programs on housekeeping skills, including cleaning techniques, room setup, laundry services, and guest services.
- Teach students how to properly clean and maintain guest rooms, public areas, and facilities according to industry standards.
- Instruct students on the proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment, tools, and chemicals, ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Provide hands-on training in linen handling, inventory management, and laundry processes.
- Teach students the importance of hygiene and sanitation practices to maintain a safe and clean environment for guests and staff.
- Monitor and evaluate students’ performance during training sessions, providing constructive feedback and guidance on improving their housekeeping skills.
- Ensure students understand the standards and protocols for guest room preparation, including bed making, cleaning bathrooms, and arranging furniture.
- Train students in dealing with guest requests, handling complaints, and providing excellent customer service in a housekeeping context.
- Promote the importance of attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills within housekeeping operations.
- Provide instruction on health and safety regulations related to housekeeping, including the proper handling of hazardous materials and waste disposal.
- Track and report on student progress, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement in performance.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure that training materials, tools, and lessons align with current industry standards and best practices.
- Encourage students to work as part of a team and to maintain professionalism at all times in the workplace.
- Assist in developing and updating the training curriculum, ensuring it reflects evolving industry trends and the needs of the hospitality sector.
Performance Indicators
- Improvement in students’ housekeeping skills, including cleaning efficiency, attention to detail, and guest room preparation.
- Adherence to hygiene, safety, and cleanliness standards by students during practical training.
- Student satisfaction and feedback on the effectiveness of the training program.
- Timeliness and accuracy of student evaluations, performance tracking, and progress reports.
- Successful completion of the training program, with students demonstrating readiness for employment in the housekeeping sector.
- Contribution to curriculum development and the incorporation of industry trends into training materials.
- Quality of collaboration with other trainers and the project team to ensure a comprehensive training experience for students.
Qualifications
- Diploma, Associate, or Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Hotel Management, or a related field.
- Certification in housekeeping or hospitality training is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 2–4 years of professional experience in housekeeping within hotels, resorts, or commercial facilities.
- Prior experience in training or mentoring students/adult learners is preferred.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of housekeeping standards, techniques, and tools in hospitality settings.
- Ability to teach, mentor, and evaluate adult learners effectively.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills in English and Urdu.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Professionalism, patience, and the ability to foster a supportive learning environment.
- Adaptability to integrate current trends and best practices into training content.
